Âstâneh
Welcome. This space, perched on the astaneh (the edge) is my digital nest. My name is Farrokh, the architect and scribe here. I'm a self-taught programmer, linguist, and myth enthusiast who believes greatness begins where privilege ends.
Astaneh is a Persian word meaning "threshold" or "precipice." It's that moment of poised potential: a step taken can either lead to a fall, or become the leap that catches the wind.
Being born in a rural town, I learnt firsthand that opportunity isn't equally distrbuted. Access to resources, especially quality education, shouldn't depend on birthplace or wealth. This conviction fuels everything here. This website – astaneh.bloodis.red – is my testament to that truth. The address echoes a Persian proverb: «خون کسی از دیگری سرخ تر نیست» ("No one's blood is redder than another"). Yet, vast differences in opportunity persist. I believe in dismantling those barriers, particularly in language learning.
For over 8 years, I taught myself English through immersion—online articles, stories, and videos replacing costly classes. My path led me deep into the worlds of computers and programming, where logic meets creativity. Alongside this, a passion for linguistics, translation, and mythology took root. Language, like code, is a system to decode and master. Mythology offers timeless narratives that transcend borders.
That journey was what inspired me to start this endeavour: a bilingual showcase of original translations (Persian/English), exploring programming, linguistics, global myths, and anything that'd catch my interest.
This website is my perch:
I craft all content in both English and Persian, not just translating words, but carrying meaning and nuance across the divide in not only language, but also environment and culture. It's a testament to the power of free and accessible learning and my own translation capabilities.
I wholeheartedly champion free and open learning resources. Expensive courses should never be the gatekeepers to knowledge. The English language for one, is a skeleton key that will open every locked door and gate that may get in your way. Once you can speak this language, you'll be equipped for anything. The Natural Method, driven by passion and persistence, is a powerful and equitable alternative for the democratization of learning.
But most important of all: here, you'll find explorations of code, the intricate structures of language, the echoes of ancient myths, and the bridges built between them through my translations.
But why "The Edge"? Why Flight?
Standing on the astaneh is about embracing and recognizing your potential. It's about making the choice to step into the unknown, to trust your wings of curiosity and passion. It's about that moment when knowledge transforms into understanding, lifting you and hopefully inspiring others upwards. This website is my leap. It's an invitation to explore, to learn naturally, to be curious, and especially to discover that the ability to soar isn't granted by circumstance, but cultivated by perseverance.
Where you stand shouldn't dictate how far you can fly. Let's explore the heights together.
Explore. Engage. Learn.
